Introduction to the Information Technology Unit
The use of information technology has brought about a significant transformation in the global community today. This technology is considered a powerful tool for benefiting from the heritage of human history and existing knowledge.
Information technology is an art that provides the ability to utilize the vast amount of information produced throughout the world. The wide scope of application of information technology can be observed in areas such as e-commerce, incubators and technology parks, virtual education, and more.
The IT management of Lorestan University, by employing experienced experts and consultants, has been able to advance its position in the field of IT and hopes to take a step towards improving information technology in Lorestan province in cooperation with academics and the esteemed citizens of Lorestan.
The advantages of information technology in the new era, which is known as the age of information and knowledge, herald a new world with innovative methods of utilizing information and knowledge. In the last decade, information technology, in addition to automating administrations and developing paperless offices, virtual organizations, digital organizations, e-commerce, e-banking, e-city, and e-government, has increasingly introduced and made accessible concepts such as knowledge management, information resources, and, above all, e-life.
IT infrastructure: The main goal of information technology is to create a new and informed perspective on the use of various technologies for the purpose of information transfer. The development of information technology (IT) includes the stages of feasibility studies and system analysis to identify the current situation, review and define current needs, options and solutions, logical and physical design, and implementation of information in the context of communication advancements.
The advantages of IT: Information technology and the improvement of communications are not two separate things, but rather, they are both necessary and interdependent. This technology enables individuals and organizations to develop their ability to collect and analyze information. Therefore, it is better for developing countries to align themselves with the increasing advancements in information technology, in parallel with the communications revolution and the information explosion, and to allocate the necessary budget to this important matter in their socio-economic development programs. Thus, the advantages of investing in new methods of technology are briefly stated here: empowering organizations and individuals from the perspective of strategic use of information; updating information and knowledge and creating the ability to analyze information; improving the quality of collaborations; expanding individual and organizational boundaries and the evolution of the knowledge of organizations and individuals; the possibility of expanding information in IT-covered networks; creating the ability to store and retrieve a vast amount of information; freedom of action and economic benefits that are obtained through freedom on the internet; significant savings in costs and time. In addition to the above advantages, there are other advantages that, in addition to changing the course of activities of organizations and companies, even challenge their philosophy of activity. Because individuals and organizations that have entered the field of electronic communications have, in fact, taken action to eliminate a series of repetitive tasks and redundancies. One of the managers of the successful company (W.W. GRAINGER) in the field of electronic communications, in relation to changing the philosophy of the company's activity, states that "In electronic sales, our customers are less concerned with discussing the quality or comparing our products with other competing products, but rather discuss and exchange views on the added value of the company's services".
Considering the change in the global perspective on the determining factors of today's civilization and the power of societies, and the change in the indicators for evaluating development, and more importantly, the necessity of changing the policies of developing countries to escape from a single-product economy, it is necessary to be in line with the global trend and the changes that have occurred and to use information technology as a powerful platform. To achieve this, it is necessary not to be left behind by the global movement. The factors of technology success, education, support, tools, and IT services should always be evaluated in every phase of macro-planning, and its economic, social, and cultural impact, or even the analysis of the performance of information technology as an independent industry, should be further investigated.
